How does it work?

SHIPPING PROTECTION HELPS PROTECT YOU SO YOU CAN SHIP WITH CONFIDENCE.
XCover.com Shipping Protection protects you if your items are lost, stolen or damaged during transportation or delivery.
Shipping Protection covers you up to your order value and activates when parcels leave their Originating Address.
The protection can be canceled any time before shipment.

About your coverage

Shipping Protection insurance includes...

  • Theft or Loss of your Parcel.
In the event of Theft or Loss of your Parcel, we will either reimburse you up to the Covered Amount shown on your Certificate of Insurance or we may choose to arrange for the shipment of a replacement Parcel.
  • Damage to your Parcel.
In the event of Damage to your Parcel during Transit, we will reimburse you for the repair costs up to the Covered Amount shown on your Certificate of Insurance.
  • Return Shipping of Damaged Parcels.
In the event your Parcel is Damaged during Transit and you need to return the Damaged Parcel, we will reimburse you for return shipping costs (up to the value of the original shipping cost paid to initially receive the Parcel) that you pay to a courier in order to return the Damaged Parcel. We pay these return shipping costs in addition to the Covered Amount shown on your Certificate of Insurance.
  • Re-shipping of a Stolen, Lost or Damaged Parcel.
In the event your Parcel is Stolen, Lost or Damaged during Transit, we will reimburse you for “re-shipping” costs (up to the value of the shipping cost you paid to initially receive the Parcel) for the replacement Parcel. We pay these re-shipping costs in addition to the Covered Amount shown on Your Certificate of Insurance when a Parcel is re-shipped through our Partner.

Shipping Protection does not provide coverage...

  • For specified items, including, but not limited to, the following items:
    • Animals.
    • Antiques.
    • Arms, ammunition, military equipment or any similar items subject to the Arms Export Control Act.
    • Artwork.
    • Automobiles, motorcycles or other motorized vehicles.
    • Bulk and Break Bulk Cargoes.
    • Bullion.
    • Cannabis and related products, whether natural or synthetic, including but not limited to hash, hemp, edibles, or items containing Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
    • Cash.
    • Cigars, cigarettes, tobacco or tobacco products.
    • Computer chips, hard drives, CPUs or circuit boards.
    • Credit cards.
    • Documents of any nature, including without limitation bonds, deeds, manuscripts, securities or plans.
    • Furs, skins or hides.
    • Hazardous, restricted or controlled items.
    • Perishable foodstuffs and other temperature sensitive items.
    • Plants.
    • Precious metals or stones.
    • Stamps; and
    • Treasury notes.
  • If you provided inaccurate, dishonest or misleading information to us, our administrator or the Partner.
  • If your Items are Damaged before Transit of your Parcels.
  • If your Parcel is Lost because an incorrect address was entered for the intended recipient.
  • For claims where laptops, LCDs, TVs or jewelry have not been sent through a delivery service requiring a signature and including a Tracking Number.
  • If there is insufficient evidence that your Parcel has been Lost, Stolen or Damaged during Transit.
  • For claims resulting from Theft after documented delivery to the Delivery Address where no police report related to the Theft has been provided.
  • For claims caused by:
  1. Hostile act by or against a belligerent power.
  2. Strike, riots, civil commotion or other civil strife.
  3. War, civil war, revolution, rebellion or insurrection.
  4. Capture, seizure, arrest, restraint or detainment arising from causes 1-3 above.
  5. Mines, torpedoes, bombs or other weapons of war.
  • For claims arising from:
    • Any inherent vice of the product, including but not limited to: mold and mildew; infestation; rust, corrosion, oxidation or other deterioration; or any discoloration.
    • Any hidden or latent defect or any other quality of the Items that cause it to destroy itself or cause other property Damage.
    • Marring, chipping, denting or scratching.
    • Leakage, loss in weight or volume or Wear and Tear.
    • Electrical, electronic and/or mechanical derangement.
    • Data, information technology or electronic risks, including without limitation cyber attacks.
    • Insufficiency or unsuitability of packing of the Items.
    • Illegality (for example, the shipment of illegal Items).
    • Delivery delay.
    • Willful misconduct, fraud, infidelity, conversion or dishonest acts by You or the shipper.
    • Any radioactive, toxic, explosive or otherwise hazardous contamination regardless of the cause. Any weapon or device employing atomic or nuclear fission and/or fusion or other like reaction or radioactive force or matter.
  • For any chemical, biological, bio-chemical or electromagnetic weapon.

Sub-limits and additional conditions to coverage

  • The most We will pay for the following categories is the lower of (i) the maximum of the Parcel’s coverage limit or (ii) the sub-limit (as defined below):
  • Maximum Parcel value is $10,000.
  • Theft of Parcel after documented delivery to the Delivery Address - $1,000 per Parcel.
  • Glassware and ceramics - $1,000 per Parcel.
  • Laptops, LCDs and TVs - $5,000 per Parcel for Loss or Theft.
    • Laptops, LCDs and TVs are not covered for Damage.
    • Laptops, LCDs and TVs must be sent through a delivery service that requires a signature.
  • Jewelry - $5,000 per Parcel.
    • Parcels containing over $250 in jewelry must be sent through a delivery service requiring a signature and including a Tracking Number.
    • Jewelry must not have seller advertising visible on the outside of the packaging.

Submitting a claim

If your Items are Lost, Stolen or Damaged during Transit, please go to xcover.com/claim .

Preserve all of the packaging material and Damaged Items. Do not dispose of the packaging material or Damaged Items before a claim is completed as photographs or other proof of a claim may be required. Failure to comply may result in the denial of your claim due to insufficient evidence.

If a Parcel is marked by the carrier as “delivered” to the Delivery Address but it has not been received by the customer, the claim must be filed within 10 days from the date/time the carrier marked the Parcel as delivered.

Claims where the status is “not delivered” must be reported no later than 30 days (60 days for international shipments) after the shipped date (carrier pick up).

We may request supporting documents to finalize your claim, including but not limited to video recordings or photos showing Theft or a police report. If required documents are not provided to Us, the claim may be rejected.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel this protection before the scheduled shipping date for a refund via xcover.com/account as long as the Parcel has not left the Originating Address.

Our Partner may, at its discretion, ask that we cancel protection for a particular Parcel before the Parcel leaves its Originating Address.

Valuation

The Covered Amount for the premium calculation and claims adjustment purposes is established based on the following:

  1. New goods: Invoice price + shipping costs. If no sales contract has been agreed: New replacement value + shipping costs.
  2. Second-hand and/or used goods: Invoice price + shipping costs. If no sales contract has been agreed: Used market value + shipping costs.

Underinsurance

We will not pay more than the Covered Amount even if, at the time of a loss, the value of the Items or Parcel exceeds the Covered Amount.

Subrogation

Upon our payment of your claim, all of your rights and remedies against other parties with respect to your Loss will be subrogated to us. We may receive or pursue any amounts recovered or recoverable from those parties. You cannot waive these rights against another party.

Applicable law

This contract and any dispute concerning the interpretation, performance or enforcement of the insurance described shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois without regard to applicable principles of conflicts of law.

Your failure to prevent or mitigate

Your failure to prevent or mitigate any loss resulting in a claim may invalidate your coverage or reduce the payable amount of your claim.

Fraudulent or exaggerated claims

When knowingly committed by you or someone acting on your behalf, the following constitutes a “Fraudulent Claim”:

  1. making a false claim;
  2. exaggerating the amount of a claim;
  3. providing us or our affiliated business partners with false or misleading declarations or statements to support a claim; or
  4. providing us or our affiliated business partners with any other false or invalid documents or relies on any fraudulent devices to support a claim then

In the event of a Fraudulent Claim, we will decline coverage for the claim.

Pair, set or parts

If any Items that form part of a pair or set are Stolen, Lost or Damaged, we may either (1) repair or replace any part to restore the pair or set’s value prior to the Theft, Loss or Damage; or (2) pay the difference between the value of the pair or set before and after the Theft, Loss or Damage. If your Items consist of several parts when complete and one or more parts is Lost, subject to Theft or Damaged, we will only pay for the value of the Stolen, Lost or Damaged part.

Sanctions

No coverage shall be provided, and we will not be liable to pay, for any claim or benefit to the extent that doing so might result in any sanction, prohibition or restriction under United Nations resolutions or the trade or economic sanctions, laws or regulations of the European Union, United Kingdom or the United States of America.

Definitions

The following words or phrases will have the same meanings set out below wherever they appear in this policy and the Certificate.

Administrator

Cover Genius Insurance Services, LLC.

Certificate or Certificate of Insurance

Means the document that outlines the specific details of the protection, including the name and email of the policyholder, purchase, coverage dates and the items covered. The Certificate and this policy wording combine to make your protection.

Covered amount

As shown on your Certificate, the maximum amount payable for any claim subject to all terms, exclusions and sub-limits.

Damage(d)

Accidental or malicious physical damage to the Items that renders the Items Inoperable.

Delivery address

Address registered with our Partner, to which the Items will be delivered.

Inoperable

The condition of an item being no longer capable of use for its primary purpose as intended by its seller due to an event covered under this insurance.

Item

The physical property that is identified as insured within your Parcel.

Lost or Loss

The Items that a shipping carrier has declared to be lost in transit.

Originating address

The address registered with Our Partner, from which the Item(s) will be collected for shipment.

Parcel

The Items for which you have arranged Transit and which have been allocated a Tracking Number.

Partner

The entity that referred You to Us.

Stolen

Items subject to Theft.

Theft

An illegal activity where someone intentionally and illegally takes your Items and your Items are not recovered.

Tracking number

A unique sequence assigned to a Parcel that enables you to track and view the status of the delivery of your Parcel.

Transit

The time period the Parcel is transported, starting when the Items leave the Originating Address and closing when the intended customer receives the Items at the Delivery Address.

Wear and tear

Damage or deterioration resulting from ordinary or regular use or typical depreciation.

We/Us/Our

Continental Insurance Company as well as the agents and Administrator acting on Our behalf.

You/Your (whether capitalized or not)

The policyholder, as detailed on the Certificate.

Compliance and regulatory information

Policy issuer

This policy is underwritten by Continental Insurance Company and administered by Cover Genius Insurance Services, LLC.

Information for the entire policy

This policy is a contract between you and us.

You must read this document and Certificate of Insurance as one single contract.

This policy provides protection against your Parcel being Lost, Stolen or Damaged during the Transit shown in your Certificate of Insurance.

Please read all documents to make sure the protection provided meets your needs.

If any of your information is incorrect or changes, please contact the Administrator and partner. If we have wrong information this may result in an increased policy cost and/or claims not being paid in full, or your policy may not be valid, and claims will not be paid.

Complaints

You can contact the friendly XCover Complaints Team at any time. Include your reference number (ending with "INS") for a formal review of your claim. We will respond within 5 days. Click the button to send us an email.
